On the first Saturday of May, St. George plays host to the IRONMAN® 70.3® North American Pro Championship.
More than 2500 athletes compete in one of the most challenging and distinguished IRONMAN® 70.3® events in the world. In 2017 the race featured more than 80 of the world’s top pros including winners of 13 world titles. Alistair Brownlee and Holly Lawrence (both from Great Britain) claimed the male and female titles in 2017.
The St. George course has a distinct reputation as a challenging and honest race that brings out the very best in competitors. The scenery and terrain are definitely worthy of the athletes who compete at this level and the enthusiasm of the volunteers and community support are second to none. Athletes say the ride through Snow Canyon State Park is unmatched on the IRONMAN® circuit. St. George and surrounding communities are thrilled to host the top pros and the incredible age group athletes who will participate alongside them.

Since its first year in 1987, the Huntsman World Senior Games has steadily grown to become the largest annual multi-sport event for people aged 50 and better on planet Earth. That’s right. The Huntsman World Senior Games welcomes more athletes than any other annual event of its kind. And for many people, the Huntsman World Senior Games has a reputation for the best organized event as well.
The 2018 Games are held from October 8 – 20 and offer 30 different sports. From Archery to Volleyball and pretty much everything in between, there is something for everyone, regardless of skill level. In 2017, 10,674 athletes registered for the Games. This year, we hope to see even more athletes converge on the St. George community filling restaurants, hotels and supporting local businesses. Registration opens on March 1 and runs through September 1.
