Building Your Network through ...

As a member of the Chamber, you have the opportunity to join various committees on a volunteer basis. Each year established committees set priorities and initiate projects to fulfill the business plan. Have a voice, make a difference and expand your circle of friends by participating on a Chamber committee.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Responsible for the organization, presentation and nomination process for the awards presented at the Annual Banquet. Those who participate on this committee fully understand the huge positive impact their selection process can have on local businesses and the entrepreneurs behind them.

COMMUNITY ACTION
An assembly of proactive representation of the best interests of local businesses, this committee is dedicated to positively influencing public policy decisions. Your Chamber of Commerce representatives and staff attend City Council and County Commission meetings to stay abreast of the issues and enhance the link between community and business. This committee formulates positions and speaks out in favor of pro-business legislation, while discouraging regulation that impedes business.

EVENTS AD-HOC COMMITTEES
Each year, your Chamber hosts various events open to the entire community. These events provide the opportunity to showcase the entire scope of benefits that the Chamber has to offer. We’d be leaving out an important facet if we didn’t mention yearly events as a chance to see all of our friends, make new ones and enjoy each other’s company in a fun atmosphere. Each event has a committee of volunteers who assist with gathering sponsors, pre-organization, on-site assistance, and post event evaluations.

MEMBER RELATIONS
With more than 1,000 Chamber member businesses, personal contact with each would be virtually impossible without this group of highly committed volunteers. Each month, committee members are provided with a list of valued members. They set appointments or stop by for the sole purpose of communication. Beyond the Chamber’s open door policy, this is each member’s opportunity to learn more about upcoming Chamber events, request assistance, and forward information to the staff about any innovations or changes occurring in your business. This provides each member with an individual forum to provide feedback and ensure you are getting the most out of your Chamber membership.

THE DIXIE SUNSHINERS
The Dixie Sunshiners represent the Chamber by attending hundreds of community events each year, including ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, grand openings and community parades. Governed by their own by-laws, the process of becoming a Sunshiner is by election, because of the vast commitment each individual makes as part of this group.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The elected Board of Directors determines policies and plans of action aimed at maintaining and developing a community in which business and families can thrive. Few corporations could afford a Board of Directors with the professional experience, knowledge, and qualifications this body possesses. Their collective representation and direction are undoubtedly, one of the greatest benefits provided to all Chamber members. The Board provides insight and influence for approval of Chamber action and policies, serves as an advisor to the Chamber staff and committees and ensures that the Chamber receives maximum results from available funds and operates within the approved budget.
