The area’s natural topography allows for a small-town feel even though the population in Washington County is projected to reach 162,000 by 2010. Nearby Pine Valley Mountain soars to an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet, offering a cool summer retreat just 35 miles from St. George.

Close by, Gunlock, Quail Creek and Sand Hollow Reservoirs offer exhilarating boating and other water sporting opportunities. Both Lake Powell and Lake Mead, world-class recreational areas, are only two to three hours away by car. Southwestern Utah boasts easy driving distances to three national parks and six national monuments.

The City of St. George’s public transit system has comfortable, climate-controlled buses that service three routes with 60 bus stops citywide. Buses run 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pick up a Rider’s Guide at the Chamber office or call 673-TRAN (8726).

Shuttle services are available several times daily between St. George and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. There is one daily trip from St. George to the SLC area departing at 8 a.m. and arriving at 12:45 p.m. at the Best Western Executive Inn, on 7200 South 300 West, Midvale, (across the street from the “trax line”).
