Driver's License Services

A Utah car license and registration must be obtained with 60 days of your arrival in the state from Utah State Department of Motor Vehicles, 10 N 100 East, St George. In order to get your license, you must present a certificate of title and registration along with a certificate of inspection of the vehicle and proof of insurance. The inspection certificate may be obtained at most garages of dealerships. The fees are based upon the age of the car and not assessed evaluation.

Every resident of Utah who drives a motor vehicle on the highways must have a valid Utah license, learner permit or temporary permit.

Utah driver's licenses may be obtained at 395 Riverside Drive, St George. A written and road sign test is required. You may pick up a Driver's Handbook at the Riverside Drive office. Testing hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. To apply for a first time Utah License you must be 16, furnish proof of a prior driver license or proof of Driver Training, proof of resident address and proof of legal presence (if applicable).

After all requirements for a license have been successfully completed, a photograph will be taken and you will receive a temporary photo license on the same day. The completed license will then be mailed to you in approximately three weeks. You license should be obtained within 10 days of the date you become a resident of the state.
