Volunteers Needed at the Chamber of Commerce!

Looking for a fun way to fill your time? Have a few extra hours a week
you could spare? Come Volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce! Volunteers
are essential to the Chamber's daily operations. Volunteers work a four hour shift one day a week. The morning shift is 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and the afternoon shift is 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. We are currently looking for Volunteers to work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. Responsibilities include answering phones, helping visitors with area information, and assembling relocation packets for mailing. We offer training! We also are looking for Volunteers that can substitute on an "as needed" basis. Hospital Announces Changes to Visitation Policy This Flu Season

Dixie Regional Medical Center has modified visitation policy in anticipation of a community-wide increase in influenza this fall. The Southwest Utah Public Health Department, with the help of community partners including Intermountain Healthcare, the City of St. George, Dixie State College and others are hosting the annual Flu Shoot-Out/Emergency Response Exercise on Sept. 26 at the Dixie Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and October 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lin's Market in Hurricane. The St. George event is a drive-thru. Cost is $25 (cash or check) or these insurances may be billed if the insurance card is provided: Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, PEHP (Preferred or Advantage), and SelectHealth. Southern Utah Home Builders Association Offer Grants!

The first Home Run Grant Program, which ended in June 2009, provided a $6000 grant to eligible home buyers Home Run 2 provides a $4000 grant. The first program required that homes be ready for occupancy upon closing. Home Run 2 buyers have two additional options. They can purchase a home that is contracted for construction or partially finished and contract for completion. Homes that have been previously occupied do not qualify. The Dixie State College Theatre program opens its 2009 season with "Almost, Maine"

The Dixie State College Theatre program opens its 2009 season with the Utah premier of John Cariani's romantic comedy, Almost, Maine, October 1-3, 6-10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Eccles Fine Arts Center Laboratory Theater. Almost, Maine is set on clear, cold moonless night in the deepest winter in the remote town of Almost, Maine, (so far north it's almost Canada.) As one resident explains, Almost is "not an actual town because we never got around to getting organized.? On this night, while the northern lights hover magically above, knees are bruised, and hearts are healed or broken, as the residents of Almost fall in and out of love in unexpected, unusual, and often hilarious ways. New Promise Lutheran Church will again host the annual Octoberfest - German Dinner, a major fundraiser for Dixie Care & Share. This event is supported by the four Lutheran congregations in St. George and Cedar City to help raise funds for the St. George shelter and food bank. "Dixie Spirit Runs Red" is the theme for the 2009 Dixie State College of Utah Homecoming Week, which will kick off Friday, Oct. 2, and run through Saturday, Oct. 10. Flu Shoot-Out Announced for St. George

The Southwest Utah Public Health Department, with the help of community partners, will be holding the annual Flu Shoot-Out/Emergency Response Exercise on Saturday, September 26th. It will be at the Dixie Center (NEW LOCATION) this year. Just turn south on 270 E. off of East Riverside Drive and follow the signs. The Shoot-Out is drive-thru so you can fill out the paperwork and get the shot without leaving your car. You must be age 19 or older. Cost is $25 (cash or check) or no charge with these insurances: Medicare, Medicaid, PEHP (Preferred or Advantage), & SelectHealth. YOU MUST BRING YOUR CARD. Dixie State College of Utah will unveil its new home for the institution's entire communication program as the Jennings Communication Building will be dedicated at a special ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 24. Are you looking for a way to dress up your office with poinsettias for the holidays? The Washington County Justice Center (CJC) can provide you with the most stunning poinsettias for the holiday season! Orders are starting earlier than normal this year because so many businesses plan in advance for their flower orders. All the proceeds go to help fund the Children's Justice Center here in Washington County. This is the greatest fundraiser-- you can help a local organization that helps your community's abused children! The poinsettias are 6" and come in a variety of colors.
