New Bank Growing Quickly

Just over a month after its grand opening, Town & Country Bank has established a new loan production office in St. George. The facility at 1224 South River Road is about 1/3 mile from its main office and houses the bank’s five-person lending staff. Bruce Jensen, President & CEO, says “It was necessary for us to bring on additional loan staff and find more space to accommodate consistently heavy loan demand.” Recently the bank hired two additional loan professionals. The bank is significantly ahead of initial credit projections and Jensen says he “is pleased with the caliber of our borrowers and the the fact that our portfolio is not highly concentrated in any one area.” Town & Country Bank is locally headquartered and differentiates itself from competitors through its Concierge Banking model, debit card discounts and bank-operated courier service for businesses.

School of Life Foundation appoints Kimberly Johnson to Advisory Board

Jack Rolfe, President of The School of Life Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Johnson to the foundation’s advisory board. Kimberly is presently employed with the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) and has been with them for 25 years. She moved to the St. George area 10 years ago and became very involved in various community and civic projects. She is currently a Rotarian with Rotary Club of St. George, a Sunshiner with the Chamber of Commerce, and President of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Kimberly was named Rotarian of the year 2002-2003 when involved with the Sunrise Rotary Club. She is a graduate of Leadership Dixie and continued to work on the Leadership Dixie Board from 2003-2006. She also held the distinguished position as President of the Board of Directors for the St. George Chamber of Commerce in 2005.

Phishing Scams, Frivolous Arguments Top the 2008 “Dirty Dozen” Tax Scams

The Internal Revenue Service has issued its 2008 list of the 12 most egregious tax schemes and scams, highlighted by Internet phishing scams and several frivolous tax arguments. Topping this year’s list of scams is phishing, which encompasses numerous Internet-based ploys to steal financial information from taxpayers. New to the “Dirty Dozen” this year is a scheme, which IRS auditors discovered, that relates to unreasonable and/or excessive fuel tax credit claims.
