CHAMBER LUNCHEON
There is no luncheon next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.


This week's luncheon will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008
It will be held at the Dixie Convention Center from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm. This luncheon will feature the Jubilee of Trees. Come join us at the Jubilee of Trees Chamber Luncheon from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm on Thursday, Nov 20th, sponsored by Southwest Federal Credit Union. Terri L. Kane, Dixie Regional Medical Center's Administrator/CEO, is the keynote speaker at the luncheon. Tickets are $13.00 per person and will be available at the Dixie Center. No reservations are needed, but please sign in at the rotunda. The Chamber accepts cash, check, and all major credit cards except Discover Card. Make sure to collect your sticker to allow you entrance to the Jubilee and the luncheon buffet. Remember to get your hand stamped on the way in so you can re-enter that evening free of charge. UDOT Region 4 Weekly Construction Report
The Utah Department of Transportation has selected to reconstruct the Bluff Street Interchange (Exit 6) at I-15 in St. George, Utah. Workers are setting beams in place. Landscaping, cement finishing, and access construction is ongoing. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-15 traffic will be detoured to the on and off ramps while workers erect bridge beams. Please use caution and follow the posted signs. At the Atkinville Interchange (I-15 Milepost 2) Paving has begun. Contruction is continuing. Only workers are permitted on the structure. It is a work zone and should be considered dangerous. Modifications continue on Pioneer Road running adjacent to the freeway. The interchange is NOT open to traffic. Pioneer road will be closed from the Sun River Parkway north for approximately 3/4 miles. Traffic is being detoured onto Bluegrass way. Lastly, on I-15; South of Bluff Street to Washington (Mileposts 6 - 10) Installation of advanced traffic management systems. Watch for workers. Occasional single lane closures. Poinsettia Sales Fundraiser to Benefit the Children's Justice Center
The Washington County Children's Justice Center announces their annual Poinsettia Sales fundraiser. The locally-grown plants come in red, white, Jester (red holly leaf), Peppermint (white with splash of red) and pink colors this year. Cost remains $10 each or $8.50 each if you order more than 5. Plants will be ready for pickup on three dates – Nov. 24, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8th from 12- 5 p.m. at the Children's Justice Center. Place your order by calling them at 435-634-1134. These vibrant, healthy, full plants contribute to a cheerful office décor, and make excellent gifts for clients, employees and friends. Orders must be placed in advance. Dixie State College Announces Plans for New Show Choir
Calling all singers and dancers, and those who are interested in learning! Dixie State College is forming a new show choir that will start rehearsing and performing next semester. According to choir director Merilee Webb, the show choir, known as the "Ragin' Red" Dixie State College Show Choir, is a powerful, exciting and talented outreach group that will perform and teach in local schools, and at community and College events, in order to recruit and bring more recognition to the College. DSC will host a workshop in advance of formal auditions, Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, in room 150 of the Eccles Center. Auditions will be held later that day from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Red Rock Rotary Considers Grant Applications
It is the time of year when the Red Rock Rotary Foundation considers grant applications from organizations in Washington County with a primary focus on children and again will be awarding grants totaling $6,000. The deadline for applications to be received is Monday December 15, 2008 and those receiving grants will be advised in February 2009. The purpose of the Red Rock Rotary Foundation is to apply funds raised through service projects carried out by the Red Rock Rotary Club for making grants to worthwhile charitable organizations in Southern Utah whose focus is helping children.
