UDOT Region 4 Weekly Construction Report
The Utah Department of Transportation has selected to reconstruct the Bluff Street Interchange (Exit 6) at I-15 in St. George, Utah. Off-ramp work will continue. Landscaping, cement finishing, and access construction is ongoing. Construction on the bridge will continue into winter. Please slow down and watch for construction workers and equipment. Drivers should be aware of access points. Off-ramps are still under construction. Slow to 15 mph to exit the freeway. At the Atkinville Interchange (I-15 Milepost 2) there will be Pioneer Road modifications and Bridge work. Pioneer road will be closed from the Sun River Parkway north for approximately 3/4 miles. Traffic is being detoured onto Bluegrass way. Occasional Single lane night closures under the bridge on I-15. Lastly, on I-15; South of Bluff Street to Washington (Mileposts 6 - 10) workers are grading shoulders, installing signs, guardrail and advanced traffic management systems. Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm with occasional night work.. Impact on traffic is forseen as minimal. Watch for workers. Poinsettia Sales Fundraiser to Benefit the Children's Justice Center
The Washington County Children's Justice Center announces their annual Poinsettia Sales fundraiser. The locally-grown plants come in red, white, Jester (red holly leaf), Peppermint (white with splash of red) and pink colors this year. Cost remains $10 each or $8.50 each if you order more than 5. Plants will be ready for pickup on three dates – Nov. 24, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8th from 12- 5 p.m. at the Children's Justice Center. Place your order by calling them at 435-634-1134. These vibrant, healthy, full plants contribute to a cheerful office décor, and make excellent gifts for clients, employees and friends. Orders must be placed in advance. The Citizens Review Panel will hold its monthly public meeting on Tuesday, October 28th, at 5:30 pm, downstairs at the County Library in St. George. The Panel will discuss its plans to assist the public and will take public comments. The Citizens Review Panel is a non-profit private association organized to review commendations and complaints involving the Hurricane and St. George Police Departments. Meet the Washington County Commissioner Candidates!
Dixie State College will host a special Dixie Forum on Thursday, Oct. 30, featuring a debate between candidates for Washington County Commissioner. Republican incumbent Alan Gardner and Democratic challenger Lin Alder will debate topics relevant to county voters, including the Lake Powell Pipeline, Vision Dixie, and the Toquop power plant, among other issues. The Forum will begin at 12 noon, in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus. Admission is free for all community members, DSC students, and faculty and staff.
