The management and staff of the Courtyard by Marriott are asking the members of the Chamber of Commerce to assist them with a canned food drive to help those who are less fortunate.
If each member contributes a canned good a week through June 22nd, you could make a substantial contribution to our community. Containers will be placed outside the Rim Rock Convention Center at the Marriott and at our Chamber luncheons through June 22nd. Please help to make a difference in others' lives.

Our luncheon sponsor this week is The Utah Foster Care Foundation.
The Utah Foster Care Foundation needs help from local businesses to find more families for Southwestern Utah children in foster care. As the population continues to grow, the number of children in foster care is also growing. Currently there are over 120 children in foster care in Washington County alone! The Foundation is a nationally recognized, private, non-profit organization that serves Utah’s children by finding, educating, and nurturing families to meet the needs of children in foster care. Through its St. George office, UFCF seeks partnerships with area businesses to help us get information on becoming a foster/adoptive family to the public. Businesses can help through a program called Partners in Parenting (PIP). The PIP program is designed to support those families who foster and/or adopt children who’ve been hurt or neglected through no fault of their own. It’s easy for your business to help in this effort: provide discounts on goods or services donate products or gift certificates contribute to the Wishing Well Fund and foster family appreciation events The rewards are substantial as well: Tax deduction for donations, business listing in our monthly newsletter w/ circulation of 2500+, and possible media recognition. Call Debbie Hofhines, the Area Representative in St. George, for more details, 656-8065. Make a difference, become a Partner in Parenting.

Max Bunnell - Retrospective of an Artful Life Now through August 25 Sears Museum Gallery, Dixie State College Dolores Dore' Eccles Fine Arts Center
Max Bunnell, is an accomplished water and oil painter and excellent sketch draftsman, but he is much more than that. Max has been a beloved teacher for 51 years, sharing his talents with eager students, many of whom have become renowned artists themselves. Many times, Max anonymously provided funds to help students go on art trips, buy art supplies, and to continue their education. He has been the instrumental force in Moapa Valley in bringing the arts to that community and building a prestigious art collection there. The DSC Sears Invitational Show and Sale began because Max had created one of the most successful shows in the region; but, most of all his kind and generous persona is reflected in the content of his artwork and it is that same artful spirit that we honor in him. The exhibit features a number of his water and oil paintings, along with various sketches. The Sears Museum Gallery will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-through-Thursday. Admission is free to the public. For more informstion, call: 435-652-7905
