CHAMBER LUNCHEON
This weeks luncheon will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 12noon - 1:00 pm at the DSC Gardner Center
This luncheon will be a political forum featuring the Ivins and Santa Clara Candidates. We will also have a presentation for the Santa Clara Streetscape.

The Visual Arts Association of Southern Utah is our luncheon sponsor this week
The Visual Arts Association/Utah (VAA) is a non-profit membership body that is open to organizations and individuals concerned with the exhibition, interpretation and development of visual art. We function as a catalyst, sharing expertise, knowledge and campaigning for a healthy visual arts destination area. The VAA serves the artists and friends of the visual arts of the Southern Utah Tri-State Region by encouraging and promoting the creative process. Membership is to all levels of artists throughout the region and the VAA welcomes everyone to join. The VAA Invitational Art Show runs October 15th – 20th in the Leisure Services Building, 86 So Main, from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily. This show will feature several local artists in categories from watercolor, oil and sculpture. Admission is free.

St. George Area Chamber of Commerce 2007 Recognition Awards
The 2007 Annual Recognition Awards have been profiled to emphasize the unique mission of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce and its advocacy of strengthening the role of businesses in our community. Our volunteer for the month is Dorothy Beckett Nolan
Dorothy Beckett Nolan, a New Yorker, moved to St. George from Salt Lake City in January 1993. Continuing prior volunteerism, she has been a volunteer at the St. George library, Southwest District Health Department, Five County Association of Government, Dixie Hospital Council, Utah Visitor’s Center (I-15), docent of Art Museum, nurse at open house for St. George Temple, and Downtown Historical Tour. She also taught CDC classes at the St. George Catholic Church. She designed and taught a “Nursing Aid” course for Bloomington 3rd Ward. She has been a member of Region V Regional Vocational Study Team, Human Services Council and chairperson of Nurse’s Aid Advisory Committee. She was on the staff of College of Nursing, The University of Utah, and a substitute teacher at Mesquite Elementary School. For the past 15 years, she has been a volunteer on Tuesday mornings at the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce.

Santa Clara City Streetscape Open House and Ribbon-cutting Ceremony
Santa Clara City is staging a major event surrounding the opening of their new streetscape project along Santa Clara Drive. On Friday, October 19, 2007 at noon, a brief ceremony will take place at Santa Clara’s Heritage Square, 3020 Santa Clara Drive. It will be followed by a ribbon-cutting on the street, tours of the new streetscape area, refreshments, live music, and special business promotions surrounding Santa Clara’s downtown businesses.
