Jeannine Young
"When Jeannine Young was a small
child she modeled birds out of her mom's canning wax.
Currently she enjoys utilizing unexpected shapes to describe
familiar forms. She is drawn to strength, flexibility and
luster of metal.
"As I work, cutting, hammering and welding the metal, the
personality of the subject emerges. It can be dramatically
affected by subtle changes in the angles and planes of the form.
The contrast of the sharp smooth surfaces against the rounded
textured surfaces is enhanced by the warm, golden patina.
I strive to impart a feeling of inner strength and grace in my
sculptures."
She attended Utah state University and then Washington
University where she received a BS in physical therapy.
After working several years, she attended
the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Jeanne has been a full-time
sculptor since 1985.
She is currently represented in galleries across the country.
Her work can be found in may public and private collections.
